Symptoms of short-sightedness in children

There are a few signs to look out for that indicates that your child might be short-sighted.

  1. Holding the book very close when they read; or sitting very close to the TV.
  2. Finding it hard to recognise faces and signs from a distance.
  3. Bumping into things (doorframes, tables etc.).
  4. Trouble judging distances, like catching a ball or pouring a glass of cordial.
  5. Squinting when viewing from afar, like TV or at the movies.

If your child is experiencing any of the above, you should consider booking in for an eye test at your local Laubman & Pank Optometrist.
We adapt the eye test for kids making it fun and interactive, so even if they can’t read yet, we can do a full eye test.
