What is A Peripheral Vision Test?
Visual field tests are a simple way to check your peripheral vision – that is everything that is not within your central field of vision.
It may seem quite easy to test your own peripheral vision at home but only an eye health professional can give you an accurate diagnosis. Early changes are often imperceptible. There are a few ways that an optometrist can test your eyes for peripheral vision loss.
Confrontation Visual Field Exam
You signal when you can see your optometrist’s hand moving across in front of you.
Automated Perimetry
You stare straight ahead in a Visual Field machine and press a button when you see small flashes of light in your peripheral vision.
